If you automatically read that with Muldoon’s voice, you can tell that this is my review of Jurassic World.

I’ve been waiting for this movie since I saw the very first preview. As a bird nerd, the Jurassic Park series has always held a special place in my nerd heart. I remember being a kid and seeing Jurassic Park when it first came out in theaters. I just recently read Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park books. I wish I had read them sooner. Needless to say, I was very prepared for this movie.

For those who don’t know, Jurassic World takes place a couple decades after the first movie on the same island. Here we have the theme park fully functioning and in action. You have a couple of youngsters (crucial to a JP movie) on the island enjoying the fun. There’s a water show, lots of tourist attractions, and forget piling into an outdated Explorer. Hop into a gyro sphere and tour the park yourself. The park has created a hybrid dinosaur that they’re eager to show to the public, pending the typical safety investigation. Of course, life will not be contained and all hell breaks loose on the park. As always, life finds a way.

Why You Should Be Reading James Dashner

I think we all can agree the young adult dystopian genre is quite popular these days. Hunger Games broke through in a fury of braids and grey scarves. Divergent is also busting through blazing the way for excessive bird tattoos. Both are great in that they’re movies that can encourage young people to put down their Twittergram and pick up a book. But what about other authors? We all know what a blockbuster hit the Hunger Games series has been in theaters. This sparked overwhelming sales in both merchandise and books. People are tattooing mockingjays on themselves and Katniss has become a cosplay staple. Divergent didn’t quite make the numbers, but it seems to be gaining steam with the sequel. It’s almost a mashup of Hunger Games and Twilight. I won’t tarnish this blog’s reputation by going into the ridiculous success of the Twilight series. We all know it’s teen crack. (Hit Read More to continue)...
